Miss Compton-Burnett is a novelist who bites.
Once bitten, most people bite through what novels of hers are available. I painted her in 1970, and again in 1971 with Borges and my flapper Aunt Ruth. In 1983 I performed a book review of her novel A God and his Gifts,
